I've been researching my genealogy - the Shane/Schön line and all other lines - as a hobby off and on throughout much of my life. I have a tremendous amount of information and media on my genealogy, but so far I have almost nothing of it online.

Up until myself, my direct ancestors of all lines have been living almost entirely in Berks County, Pennsylvania - primarily Earl Township and those surrounding it - since before the American Revolution. The origin of most of them prior to coming to America was the area that is now Germany and Switzerland, and a few were Lenape Tribe Native Americans.
The village of "Shanesville" in Earl Township was named after my great, great, great, great, great grandfather, Johannes "John" Schön, in 1833. John was the grandson of "Johann Peter (Peter) Schön", who was the first in the line to immigrate to America in the mid-1700's. I was raised barely 3 miles from Shanesville, PA.
"85 Years of Harvey"
My oldest living direct ancestor is my paternal grandfather, Harvey R. Shane, Jr., pictured above to the left in his car. He turned 85 on August 10, 2008, and as you can see in the illustration to the right, he's also the longest living one in my Schön ancestry line for at least 10 generations - probably many more. For his 85th birthday, I made a 38-minute video outlining and honoring his life and progeny so far, entitled "85 Years of Harvey".
If you are a friend or family member who would like to view the video, please e-mail me and I'll be happy to get it to you online or on DVD.
